Sarah's Procrastinating

Alrighty then, I should read for my clinical chemistry course, but obviously I'm lazy and it's boring, so let's do something instead.

Music. I find that a difficult topic to talk about. I usually hate when people ask me what music I like because it's really hard to define! I don't only like rock or pop or something hipster which is supposed to be cool because nobody ever heard of it. When I like a song, I listen to it, no matter what genre it is. In my iTunes, you can probably find songs of almost every genre. Well, there is stuff which I usually don't listen to, like folk music or country, but that's kind of obvious, isn't it? (Besides, there are also country songs that I like.)

In general I love soundtracks. My all-time favorite is, of course, Lord of the Rings. I almost know it by heart and it's my go-to music for studying. Lately I've also been listening a lot to the Skyrim soundtrack. You wouldn't think so, but that game has an amazing soundtrack, much better than most movies!

It's not exactly a soundtrack, but I love the music from Grey's Anatomy. You can say what you want about that show, but their music choice is absolutely fabulous. There are many really good songs on it and they are usually not very well known. I found this Youtube channel lately where you can listen to all the music from (almost) all the seasons: Grey's Anatomy.

Now I will go through my iTunes and just see who I have especially many songs of:

- Apocalyptica: they're a finnish band playing on cellos, which you probably only find in Finland and they are really good.
- Eminem: I have been a huge Eminem fan when I was 14 and I kind of still am. It's usually what I listen to when I'm angry.
- Lady Gaga: I love Lady Gaga. I don't really care about her crazy outfits and all that stuff, but I think The Fame Monster was a really good album, unfortunately Born This Way is all but that. I think she is now just trying too much to be different and it's just not working.
- Lily Allen: Love Lily Allen.
- MGMT: My trying-to-be-cool music, but actually I really like some of their songs.
- Rammstein: I'm not sure if you've heard of Rammstein, they are a German... hmm... "is a Neue Deutsche Härte band" (thanks, Wikipedia). They are really hard to describe and if you listen to them, you probably think I'm completely crazy. People who don't listen to Rammstein describe them as "hard" music, which I find is not completely fair. My favorite song is Ohne Dich which has a heartbreaking video.
And now I will just randomly list artists I like without commenting on them: Taylor Swift, The 69 Eyes, 3OH!3, Train, Agnes Carlsson, Disney soundtracks, The Ditty Bops, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Rise Against, Røyksopp, She & Him (Zooey Deschanel's band ^-^), Tegan and Sara

From Nerdfighter music I really like Eddplant, sometimes Tom Milson and the album by Alan Lastufka, Erase This. Those are also the only CDs I buy anymore because I think you should actually support them. I also love Holding On by Alex Day, it's one of my favorite songs! Some songs by Hank are good too, but I'm not crazy about them. Also not about Charlie, sorry, but I don't think he can really sing well.

And last but not least, a random fact about me and music: I tend to name songs in my own way and my boyfriend always laughs at me for doing that. For example there's The Starfish Song (Red Rubber Ball by Cyrkl'), The Groovy Movie Song (Drive By by Train), The Sofa Song (I'll Be Your Man by James Blunt) and probably some more, but I can't think of any and my boyfriend is also not much help. If you listen to those songs, you'll know why I call them like that!

Feverish Music Rant

Hey guys!

I said that I would have my bedroom post up by today, but I'm still sick and my room is a total mess... so I thought (since I haven't posted in a while) I'll post about this weeks new theme and post my bedroom post later on in the week...

SO! MUSIC!

When it comes to music, I'm all over the map. I like to have music playing in the background at all times. But it really depends on what I'm doing when it comes to what music I play. When I'm cleaning or doing homework, I just turn on the radio to the Top Hits... so right now I'm getting a lot of "Call Me Maybe" and "Gangham Style" mixed in with Taylor Swift reminding me that we will never ever get back together.

Popular music is weeeeiiiird.

When I'm writing, I tend to listen to a mix of Lady GaGa and Florence + The Machine:

Both of them have really different styles but have similar, off beat weird personas. But Florence is a little bit more heartfelt while GaGa is a lot more weird. The real difference here is I will listen to Florence + The Machine for fun while I've kind moved on from Lady GaGa.

But you might be asking, what do you like to listent to when you want to listen to music....

Well to try and answer your question I love to listen to Flogging Molly, Our Lady Peace, Great Big Sea, David Bowie (I have this weird David Bowie love that I blame Labyrinth for forming), Howard Shore, Tool, Green Day, Billy Idol, Queen, Scouting for Girls, An Amalgamation of Songs from different musicals, Eric Hutchinson, Mummford and Sons and Gotye (I just love his song Eyes Wide Open).

There are other bands, musicians and composers that I like, but I'm currently drawing a blank... I'm going to blame the cold meds for that.

I like to think that musical tastes say a lot about a person, but I don't really know what my musical taste says about me.

But I think that's a question for another day.

So I'll leave you all with this:

Enjoy!
